Hi, my name is Rich Poley. I created this website to help active people like you relieve muscle pain and soreness. The idea came from a book I wrote called Self-Massage for Athletes.
I discovered self-massage while training for a race I had no business doing. I was too old, too lazy, and way too out of shape to do an ironman triathlon: to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and then run a marathon. I needed something to get me through the training and race day. I found it in my hands, self-massage, it worked wonders. I finished the race and felt great at the finish line.
I had no formal massage training when I started. I was a lawyer, which just goes to show that anyone can learn self-massage. Because there were no books on the subject, I decided to write one that would help active people relieve muscle pain and soreness, prevent injuries, and speed recovery.
The kind of massage I’m talking about isn’t passive. You don’t lie down and let something happen to you. It’s active, learn by doing, hands-on therapy. It’s massage that empowers you by letting you dissolve your own aches and pains.
